The Mash Out Posse at NBT

Peace and blessings!!! Back with another edition; hope the last edition reminded you of the greatness of Nathaniel ‘Nate Dogg’ Hale and his influence on music; he will be sorely missed. I know all of you had a safe and happy start to spring.  Spring Break is underway, so be sure to enjoy yourself.  Columbia has had many great artists grace its various stages over the years.  Artists such as Luther Vandross, Kenny Chesney, Prince, Maze, KRS-ONE, Hootie & The Blowfish, and so many more just start the conversation.  On April 16th Columbia, South Carolina will host another great concert (@ The New Brookland Tavern) that I’m sure will not disappoint. Columbia and all surrounding areas would like to welcome The Mash Out Posse aka M.O.P. to the ‘Capital City’.  Let’s get it!!!!

Since the early 90’s (’92 or so) M.O.P. respectfully known as the ‘First Family’ has really laid down a foundation in Hip Hop that few have been able to rival.  From certified classic songs, blockbuster collaborations, and contributions to albums that are certified classics, no other group in Hip Hop history has done it like the Mash Out Posse.  Their story has its beginnings in the struggle of many Black youth growing up in the poverty America offers people of color.  Residing in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New York, and learning the ‘code of the streets’ at young ages; Billy Danze & Lil’ Fame used their surroundings as a spring board to sharing their talent with the world. From the lack of opportunities that many face to the loss of close family and friends through senseless acts of violence; M.O.P. have witnessed and endured countless situations that have provided fuel to the fire that is their ‘Rapid Fire’ sound.  In their career they have released seven official albums, 1994’s ‘To The Death’ and 1996’s ‘Firing Squad’, 1998’s ‘First Family for Life’, 2000’s ‘Warriors’, 2004’s rock infused ‘Mash Out Posse’, 2005’s ‘St. Marxmen’, and the appropriately titled 2009’s ‘Foundation.’ Along with these records, they have released a slew of mixtapes and bonus material throughout their career.  M.O.P. always kept in step with their signature back-to-back high energetic flow from their debut single ‘How About Some Hardcore’ to the latest single ‘Blow The Horns.’  Classic songs such as ‘World Famous’, ‘Blood, Sweat, and Tears’, ‘Cold As Ice’, ‘Ride’, ‘Hilltop Flava’, ‘Rugged Neva Smoove’, ‘Downtown Swinga’, ‘Put it in the Air’, and of course ‘Ante Up’ are just a few of the songs destined to make the play list on the night of April 16th.  If you are familiar with this group’s work, you know there was never a shortage of banging artists or songs that M.O.P. have worked with.  Comrades of M.O.P. are both numerous and respected.  Busta Rhymes, Heather B., the late Big Pun, Termanology, Bun B, Naughty By Nature, Bumpy Knuckles aka Freddie Foxxx, KRS-ONE, Redman, Kool G. Rap, Jay-Z, the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Foxx, Teflon, Remy Ma, and of course GANGSTARR are just a few of the artists who have shared the stage and vocal booth with M.O.P. The songs and artists above were just the tip of the iceberg of the prowess of M.O.P.  M.O.P. have been featured on classic albums such as Gang Starr’s “Moment of Truth”, Bumpy Knuckles “Industry Shakedown”, Pharaoh Monch’s platinum “Internal Affairs”, Termanology & Statik Selektah’s debut “1982”, and so many more.

Making this only their 2nd trip here to the ‘Capital City’, M.O.P. will be live and direct at The New Brookland Tavern (122 State St., West Columbia, SC 29169) on April 16th, 2011.  In celebration of co-founder Shekeese Tha Beast’s Birthday, Non Stop Hip Hop Live have joined forces with Official Block Bangaz Promotions to bring M.O.P. here for the people of Columbia and surrounding areas.

Along with M.O.P. that night, Fat Rat Da Czar (still riding the success of ‘I Know You Don’t Love Me Reloaded’) and up and coming Ben G will both grace the main stage.  Sounds will be provided by DJ Peoples of The Cut Fresh Crew & DJ Kingpin-Villain Of Vinyl all night!!!!

Doors at The New Brookland Tavern open at 8pm; Showtime starts at 9pm.  Advance tickets are currently on sale at the following places: Papa Jazz Record Shoppe, Scratch N’ Spin Records, and of course The New Brookland Tavern.  Tickets are $15 in advance/$20 at the door.  For any Will Call/Phone orders call – 803. 791.4413
